The Waste to Wood initiative by OSA is a unique blend of innovation, environmental protection, and social responsibility. This program was born from the idea of reducing the dependency on wood for rituals like cremation and other traditional purposes. Through partnerships with local cowsheds (Gaushalas), OSA collects cow dung and processes it with specially designed machines—developed by OSA itself—to create eco-friendly dry sticks that serve as a substitute for wood.
Unlike firewood, these sticks do not require cutting down trees, making them a sustainable and nature-friendly option. What began in Gwalior has already created a remarkable impact, and OSA now plans to expand this model to other regions of the country. By combining waste utilization with eco-innovation, this initiative is helping both communities and the environment.
Reduces tree cutting and prevents deforestation by providing a natural alternative to wood
Makes effective use of cow dung collected from Gaushalas, reducing waste accumulation.
Free distribution of sticks for cremation and other rituals to ensure dignity without financial burden.
Machines are provided to SHGs (Self Help Groups) so they can produce sticks and earn income.
Provides an affordable and sustainable option for families, reducing expenses on firewood.
Can be replicated in other regions for maximum environmental and social impact.
